Use Social Media

If you want to promote your fundraiser, you’ll have to employ the use of more modern techniques that will help more people become aware of your campaign. One of these techniques is social media. Everybody has a social media profile these days, so it is a great way to bring more exposure to your fundraiser and increase donor potential. Here’s what you’ll need to do.

Create Social Media Accounts

First things first, you’ll need to create accounts on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. It is very simple to sign up on these sites. Just add in your first and last name along with your email address and date of birth, and you should be set. You can log into Instagram through your Facebook profile.

Start Connecting

After you’ve created your profiles, you’ll need to start connecting. Since you’re looking for widespread exposure for your fundraiser, reach out and send friend requests or follow everyone you know. Folks from high school, college, work, your friends, family members, friends and family of your spouse, former classmates and colleagues, etc. Once you’ve established a network, you will receive suggestions on various people you could add to your network.

Promoting Your Fundraiser

Creating profiles and networks is actually the easy part. Now, you’ll need to put some work into promoting your fundraiser on these social media sites. When you’re sharing your campaign with the people on your list, make sure you have a backstory regarding your challenge or cause. You wouldn’t want to immediately start bombarding your friends with donation requests. Take it step by step. Introduce your fundraiser and why you’re so passionate about it. Your backstory has to appeal to people and make them relate to you.

Engage With Social Media Contacts

Now that you have social media profiles to promote your fundraiser, it doesn’t mean that you should ignore posts shared by your contacts. Engage with them. Like, comment, and share their posts so they know you’re interested in what they do. This will enable them to be more interested in what you do.

If you’re on Facebook or Instagram, you’ll need pictures or videos. This makes your post more attractive, so more people will notice them. When you’re on Twitter, make sure you send out a tweet once a day and use the right hashtags for your campaign. These tips will help your fundraiser receive a lot of exposure and attention.
